It's been a while, and this isn't really a nursery rhyme, but - oh well, never mind! To be sung to the tune of I Went to the Animal Fair...

I went to the Chalet School fair,
The staff and the girls were there,
Mary-Lou's tones (and everyone's groans)
Were audible everywhere,
Jack slipped a dose in her cup,
From which she proceeded to sup,
And everyone swore they'd never before
Seen anything make her shut up!

If I may join in.... (I appreciate that I've taken significant liberties with the story here :) And don't ask why this tune, it just popped into my head!)

Incy wincy Joey climbed up the water drain
Took out some snails and put them on the pane
Out came Matron and caught her in the act
So incy wincy Joey went and got her sacked.

I don't usually go in for Mary-Lou-bashing (though you might be forgiven for thinking otherwise on the basis of one of my previous efforts) but this seemed too good to resist. Definitely not a nursery rhyme this time, but what the hell! To be sung to a Well-Known Tune which I will leave you to work out for yourselves...

Mary-Lou, opened her mouth and began to bore,
Mary-Lou, making us listen for evermore,
Mary-Lou, couldn’t escape if we wanted to!
Mary-Lou, knowing we’ll always be stuck with you,
Mary-Lou, how can we ever be rid of you?!

Author:  Travellers Joy [ Fri Nov 16, 2007 11:12 am ]
Post subject:

Not a Mary-Lou basher myself - she's not one of my favourite characters, but I don't dislike her - but I just had to say I had no trouble picking the tune!!

To give the Maynards treaties
Now Jack says that Jo's obese
And the Trips have diabetes

ROFL.
I love all of these - and now I know who to blame for giving ME diabetes LOL

Here is a small contribution from me.
This takes it's tune from a song, not a nursery rhyme.
To be sung to the tune of 'Yesterday'.

Mary Lou,
I wish I knew just what is wrong with you!
You are such an interfering moo,
Oh go away, please, Mary Lou.

Suddenly,
You know every secret that I have with me.
I'd prefer to sit in privacy,
Oh, go away, and leave me be!

Why she has to know, I don't know, I couldn't say.
(I just can't think of a last line for this, I shall think on it some more and hopefully finish it soon)

Thank you for all the contributions! Back to nursery rhymes for this one: to be sung to the tune of This Old Man...

Chalet School number one
Saw the start of all the fun,
Anschluss threatened, girls were summoned home,
So the School began to roam.

Chalet School number two,
Couldn’t stay there long, they knew,
Robin, Jo and others waded in,
Had to flee to save their skin.

Chalet School number three,
Now located on Guernsey,
Found that they were reachable by plane:
It seemed wise to move again!

Chalet School number four
Saw them safely through the war,
When the drains got blocked and caused a smell,
They moved to St. Briavel.

Chalet School number five,
Really saw the pupils thrive,
Watching birds and rowing on the sea,
What a happy place to be!

Chalet School number six,
Once again a language mix,
For the rest of ‘Chalet time’
This will be their Freudesheim!

This Chalet pupil went to Tyrol
Sick Chalet pupils stayed at home
This Chalet pupil ate apfeltorte
But this Chalet pupil had none
And all the Chalet pupils went Oui, Oui, Oui, all the way home

Hilda and Nell, dilly, dilly, greatest of friends,
When one is hurt, the other that way wends.

Hilda and Nell, dilly, dilly, leading the pack,
Kill any take-over by our friend Jack

You jest, Pauline. I have very limited talents, and poetry is most definitely not one of them, I'm afraid, not even doggerel   (though I do a fair line in French limericks!! )

Okay, I couldn't resist giving it a go:

Hickory dickory dock

Then failed to wait
Someone should stuff 'twith a sock!

Perhaps inspired by the current state of my nose, here's another little effort... Pop goes the weasel this time!

Headache, toothache, bilious attack,
Runny eyes or noses,
If you've got them, what do you get?
One of Matey's doses!

'Inspired' by that crossed with Ring-a-ring of roses :

Excuse me!
Excuse me!
I've got to go . . .
