She looked in the mirror and sighed. She was so boring. She had tried to be a Maynard, a proper one, but it was hard. She was like her mother but she wasn't. She hated to be a Maynard. She was ready to change. "Triplets, come here please, Miss Annersley is here!" called her mother. She sighed and ran from the room. Hope this satisfys everyone who read my hints about my drabble. I'll continue soon

"Hello girls, I came totell you that you will be prefects next term. I thought I should tell you now so you could, well in the terrible slang you girls always talk, 'sort the others out' when they come back and are noisey in the corridors but thats not all. Len ,you are Headgirl, Con, Library prefect and you margot, you are games." Said the head. Sorry if the prefect positions are wrong alert to me he wrong bits and i'll change

Len looked abit stunned but she had a slight smirk on her face. She had guessed she would follow her mothers footsteps and although she tried not to be conceited she knew she would be good at the job. Con was delighted more time in the library! But she would have to keep on writing in the exchanges of books. That would be boring. Margot was delighted, she hadn't even hoped to be a prefect considering her track-record. Suddenly one of the three remembered her thoughts of afew minutes ago and realised that being a prefect would mean being responsible. How could she be a rebel if she was a prefect. On the other hand no prefect had ever been demoted and she seriously doubted Miss Annersley would start with a Maynard! Her position of athority would help her get away with things too. Yes being a Maynard and a prefect could have its up-side.

I'm afraid I'm still stumped on the identity of the rebel triplet, though I'm looking forward to trying to work it out Very Happy

#19:  Author: LynseyLocation: Fife PostPosted: Wed May 26, 2004 5:39 pm

"Get into line!" cried Con, she was frustrated because she had to leave her book she was writing at home. " Con, give them a chance. " said Len. "I did Len give me a chance. You always assume I'm in the wrong!" said Con "And me!" cried Margot. Either one of the triplets were fuming, she couldn't wait to make the changes she was planning. Len would get her pay-back!

#20:  Author: Sarah_KLocation: St Albans PostPosted: Wed May 26, 2004 6:10 pm

" Con, pay attention! Thats the sencond book you've forgotten to note was handed back this week and its the second week of term!" said Len. " Len get off my back! You're starting to really bug me! Its a mistake things happen. I was planning a project!" Snapped Con "Another book. Oh Con please leave it til half-term." said Len calmly. "Len, " said Margot, "Con doesn't write books that often! Give her a break!" Con stared at Margot and Len, neither of them understood, neither of them tried, they just wanted to be incharge.

#23:  Author: CazxLocation: Swansea/Bristol PostPosted: Wed May 26, 2004 7:40 pm

Thanks Lynsey, I'm taking it Con is the rebel then? I was thinking of her, honest! Very Happy

I can't decide whether Len is justified in pulling Con up or not... And I like the way Margot and Con seem to be forming an alliance against Len - very interesting.

Len ought to mind her own business, and let Con get on with her own job.

#28:  Author: LynseyLocation: Fife PostPosted: Thu May 27, 2004 5:39 pm

It was after Mittagessen on the saturday after Con and Len's argument, Con was just about to go outside in the garden to start planning the changes she was planning when Len came up. "Hello Con, where are you going?" she asked. "The dorm! Where do you think, I have my coat on you know!" answered Con "OK, just wondering, do you want to come with Margot, Odette and I to play tennis?" asked Len. "Don't worry, I'm not writing a book, that isn't all I do!"cried Con. "Con, I'm not." Len had a sad look on her face, "I just want to make-up, you've been annoyed with me for 2 days." "Get a life Len, I'm going to." answered Con and with that she swung down the stairs and ran over to the far side of the garden.

it's good to see Con standing up for herself. Further story, please.

#35:  Author: LynseyLocation: Fife PostPosted: Sat May 29, 2004 8:22 am

Just so u know this part is straight after the above scene, infact it is the end of the above scene. I hadn't finished it cos I had to get off the computer fast! "Con your language is getting terrible you eally should pay a fine!" started Len but Con had already gone out of hearing. *************************************************** Con ran down to the other side of the garden where she set about climbing the fence that surrounded the school, she had to get out! Now! ************************************************** Miss Annersley looked out of her study window. Then her faced turned from smile(Very Happy) to surprise(Confused). "what is it?" asked Miss Wilson who was in the room. "I thought I saw some thing drop off the fence at the bottom of the garden!" cried Miss Annersley "Wouldn't be one of the girls if thats what your worried about. Its probably a village child seeing how high the can climb!"

"Con ran down to the village before realising she'd left her purse in the dorm, she'd forgotten she'd been going there when Len had stopped her. "Bother" muttered Con. She headed to a nearby coffeeshop to buy a small coffee with the little money she had in her pocket. She wasn't going back yet. ************************************************** In the coffeeshop Con bought her coffee and went to the back of the shop to an empty table, she took out her notebook and wrote a shopping list for next time she came down to the village. SHOPPING LIST A hair bobble Stamps One bottle of peroxide Six bottles of diet-Lemonade (if that was around at the time!) "Hello, do you mind if I sit here? The other tables are full." said a voice.

Con looked up and saw a 17 year-old boy looking at her. "Ermm sure." replied Con. She had barely ever talked to a boy outside of family or friends and never alone. "Thanks, I was worried I'd have to stand, I'm such a klutz I'd trip someone up or something." smiled the boy. "By the way I'm James." He held out a hand. "I'm Con." said Con and she held out her hand and James shook it. "I don't suppose your in a hurry? Only I have to talk to someone desperatly and there is no one here I know." he asked.

#44:  Author: cazLocation: Cambridge PostPosted: Sat May 29, 2004 8:56 pm

*falls off cliff* Who is James? What does he need to talk about? Why is he there on his own? Lynsey, I most humbly pray and bessech you to relieve my no-doubt unladylike curiosity as soon as possible!

#49:  Author: LynseyLocation: Fife PostPosted: Sun May 30, 2004 9:31 am

Con struggled with her self for a second. One of the things that annoyed her about her mother was her butting-in and Con realised that if she allowed the boy to speak if it could the little tiny butting-in gene she had inhertited from her mother would take hold of her and she would butt-in on James problem, for she felt sure it was a problem, but she looked at James and realised that she might be the only person willing to listen to him. "Ok." she answered

#50:  Author: cazLocation: Cambridge PostPosted: Sun May 30, 2004 9:55 am

I love the fact that Con is aware of her inheritance! But, Lynsey, I think you forgot to post the rest of the section. You know, the bit where we hear what James has to say...

#51:  Author: CazxLocation: Swansea/Bristol PostPosted: Sun May 30, 2004 11:18 am

#54:  Author: LynseyLocation: Fife PostPosted: Mon May 31, 2004 5:46 pm

OK, I'll post!Just a short one! "You see I can over here to look for someone. A girl. I heard she once went to the Chalet school. I guess you go there? Anyway I thought they might help me find her but I wasn't sure how to ask." "Why do you want to find her?" asked Con "You see her dad is..." started James. "So do you wanna new coffee?" asked the waitress.

No thanks" said James and once the waitress was gone he turned to Con. "Her dad is my dad." stated James. "What!" cried Con. She didn't even know people would do that! She annoyed at the sheltering that CS brought to her. "Her dad was about to go on an expedition to the amazon I think, when he met my mother, the rest is me." said James "Whats her name?" asked Con "Her name is....." Thats all folks until Friday because I am off to Alton Towers!!!!!!

Hmmm. I think I know who it is but why has James turned up? Lynsey, while we appreciate this post, if you would be so kind as to be preparing yourself while away to post a considerable further amount when you return, I think this would be a satisfactory reparation for your absence. Hi, I'm back from Alton Towers in one piece! The only bad thing is that the flume broke down while i was on it but anyway i decided to answer your pleas and write some more. Her name's... her name's..... Mary-Louise." said James. "And I want to meet her." Con gasped! She had realised while she wawaiting for James to finish his sentence that it could only have been Mary-Lou or Verity-Ann but it had still been a shock. "What do you know her?" She would be about 3yrs older than you so I didn't think you would know her. Otherwise I wouldn't have told you!" said James concerned "Yes I know her but I won't tell her unless you want me to" said Con. "I want to meet her is she still up here?" asked James. "Yes, at St. Mildreds the finishing Branch."

Not really.. the water flow wasn't working and the water drained out and we couldn't move and we had to get dragged along to a little ladder by some workers, we got a priority pass to get on a ride straight away but just as we arrived at the ride we wanted to go on there was an announcement to say it was broken and we had to run to the enterance which was at the other side of the park, nothing terrible! Wink

#83:  Author: cazLocation: Cambridge PostPosted: Sun Jun 06, 2004 7:50 pm

Well, having somehow ended up trying to respond to your posts with an excessively wordy 'thank you', I was jokingly pretending that you might have been upset that I hadn't done so to the previous post, and was hoping that it wouldn't put you off posting more. (That made so much more sense in my head!) How about I just chant?

#84:  Author: LynseyLocation: Fife PostPosted: Mon Jun 07, 2004 7:48 am

Ok Caz i think you should stick to chanting, at least when replying to my posts because although others understood I got alittle confuzzled anyway your confuzzlingness has led to another post so be happy! "So can you get her here? I want to meet her!" cried James. "I can get her here, I think, but I'm not going to tell her, you can do that." answered Con. "Thanks, so what's the plan?" asked James "Give me a chance," laughed Con, she glanced at the clock, "Oh my gosh I have to go! I only have ten minutes to get back to school! See you here tomorrow same time!" cried Con and she ran from the shop. After a few minutes she remembered that she was tring to change her image and not be a goody-goody and it wouldn't be bad if she were late but she decided to spring it on the staff in one go.. and she wasn't ready.. yet! ************************************************************* CON'S NOTEBOOK Plans to get Mary-Lou down here: 1) Invite her down for a chat but say you don't want the others to know because they will want to come 2) Ask her to come down in secret because you need to have a very serious talk. Which plan should Con go for? All vote now! Type it as a reply to this post or PM me but please don't do both. The winning idea will be used as Con's plan and I want to type it tomorrow so please hurry!

#85:  Author: cazLocation: Cambridge PostPosted: Mon Jun 07, 2004 7:53 am

Thanks, Lynsey. Sorry for confuzzling you. *chants obediently*

This is straight after Con has written in her notebook Con slammed down her notebook. She had decided even before she was at the school what she would do, she just wanted to confirm that there was no other way that she could do it. ************************************************************* Con was about to go and meet James but first she went in to a nearby shop and bought all the things on her shopping list. ************************************************************* "So what will we do?" asked James as Con sat down. "Err.. I'll not sure I wanted to discuss my ideas with you first." said Con. "Ok." said James and they started to talk.

Which ideas is she discussing? About ML or about her change of image? Or are they connected? *very intrigued*

Lynsey am so looking forward to seeing Mary=Lou's reaction to this.

#93:  Author: LynseyLocation: Fife PostPosted: Sat Jun 12, 2004 9:11 am

Sorry about the wait! By the time James and Con had finished their 3rd coffee they had finished dissusing Con's plans and had finished the short note she was going to send to Mary-Lou this is what they had written: Dear Mary-Lou, Hello, this is just a short note because there has not been any adventures at the school so far this term although I am sure there will be. I was wondering if you could come down here and meet me in the little coffeeshop on the road with that big hotel? I need to talk to you very much about something serious but please whatever you do please do not tell anyone. Not even my sisters, brothers or parents. Please come on the saturday after the date at the top of this letter at 16 'O' clock. If you cannot make it please phone the school but don't tell anyone! Love, Con

Do we get to see ML's reaction to the note, and her speculations about what Con wants to talk about? Please?

Thanks Lynsey, I wonder what M-L will make of Con's note!

Should imagine that Mary Lou will be bursting with curiosity!

#97:  Author: LynseyLocation: Fife PostPosted: Sat Jun 12, 2004 6:01 pm

Mary-Lou went to check her mailbox while chatting to her friend Vi, she grabbed the note, she read it still chatting to Vi. "Oh great! Guess what the latest news is from home!" Cried Vi, "Mary-Lou, Mary-Louise! Hey! Whatever is wrong!" Mary-Lou was staring at the note. "Oh, nothing, just ermm Joey, she ermm is I mean thinks that Cecil has erm Measles." Stammered Mary-Lou. "Oh, terrible! Good thing everyone else in the family has had it, I think!" laughed Vi. ************************************************************* On saturday Con was heading out of the school with her bag of 'supplies' from her shopping list when... "Con what is in that bag and where are you going?!" demanded Len. "Push off!" replyed Con and she stormed off towards the gates to the school. ************************************************************* Both Mary-Lou, James and Con made their way to the coffeeshop. But Con went very much earlier! ************************************************************* Mary-Lou walked into the coffeeshop. She headed to the back where there was a spare table. A fair-haired girl came over, "Hey M-L!" the girl cried. Mary-Lou looked up and was shocked to see the face under the hair was that of Con's!

Why was Mary Lou shocked to see Con - the note was from her, she would have been expecting her? Confused

I'm guessing that Con looks different. She hasn't dyed her hair, but maybe she cut/permed it??

I loved the way Con told Len to get off her back!

#102:  Author: LynseyLocation: Fife PostPosted: Tue Jun 15, 2004 8:27 pm

"Con! What happened to your hair!" cried Mary-Lou. "Hello to you too. My hair, well obviously I dyed it. But what I really asked you here to say was.... well.... I want you to meet James, he's your half-brother." said Con. James stepped forwards from where he had been standing. He started to explain to Mary-Lou. **** After 5 minutes James fell silent and Mary-Lou spoke up, "I...What...how...?" Con said gently, "James explained." "No, my father wouldn't do that! He's a hero!" cried Mary-Lou. "I'm sorry Mary-Louise, but its true, and that's not all, you see..." started James. The same waitress as before came up and asked if they wanted more coffee.

#103:  Author: cazLocation: Cambridge PostPosted: Wed Jun 16, 2004 8:50 am

Poor Mary-Lou. What a shock, when she's been idolising her father. I suppose it is true, not some scam or someone lying?

#104:  Author: LesleyLocation: Allhallows, Kent PostPosted: Wed Jun 16, 2004 2:22 pm

Quite a horrible way to find out when you've got such a positive role model figure as your father. *Wonder if James is going to say - "Oh and I have four identical brothers - I'm one of quins!* (One in the eye for Joey's quads!)

#105:  Author: Sarah_KLocation: St Albans PostPosted: Wed Jun 16, 2004 8:55 pm

*giggles* Con really hasn't got much tact has she! I think if I were Mary-Lou I would have probably left or (as she does) completely disbelieved the story.

Hate to be pedantic (yes, really!) but Con was the dark haired triplet - a bottle of black hair dye wouldn't actually change her looks at all! Apart from that, interesting stuff! Smile

#107:  Author: ChelseaLocation: Your Imagination PostPosted: Thu Jun 17, 2004 12:23 pm

That's what I thought - hence my comment about the hair obviously not being dyed. Then I thought that I must have miss understood something. I feel much better now.

Poor Mary-Lou. We might have guessed Con would blurt it out, even though she said she wouldn't say anything. Eagerly looking forward to more of Mary-Lou's reaction.

#114:  Author: LynseyLocation: Fife PostPosted: Tue Jun 22, 2004 6:00 pm

Sorry about the confusion with the hair colour! For the drabbles sake lets just say its an EBDism and Con is really the lightest triplet and has dyed her hair jet black. James glared at the waitress and the shy swiss who had only taken the job to get money for her family held back tears long enough to say, "Call if you do." And she went off. "Mary-Lou, I was going to tell you that your father... he...well...he is still alive, he's is at the hotel next-door." said James. "I also have to tell you that..." "I've had enough!" cried Mary-Lou, "I don't believe you! Con I can't believe you would hurt me like this! You know how much I wish he was still alive!" MAry-Lou ran from the coffeeshop followed by an anxious Con, worried about where Mary-Lou was going , who was followed by James. The last two finally caught up with Mary-Lou at the dangerous cliff-top path. "Leave me alone!" Yelled Mary-Lou, she was acting like Con had never seen before and Con was worried she would do something stupid. "Mary-Lou, please believe me, it's true!" cried James. Suddenly there was a shriek as Mary-Lou disapeared over the edge of the cliff!

#115:  Author: LesleyLocation: Allhallows, Kent PostPosted: Tue Jun 22, 2004 6:06 pm

Wow, a cliff hanger!! Laughing Lynsey - why don't you change the scene where Mary Lou first sees Con as seeing someone blond and that Con has bleached her hair?

#116:  Author: LynseyLocation: Fife PostPosted: Tue Jun 22, 2004 6:13 pm

Because then I'd have to change a futher back post as well that mentioned her planning to buy the dye. I might change it another time but I have to go very soon and I can't remember what page the first mention was on. I will edit this post to say I have changed it when I change it. Mods can edit things can't they? Any passing mods with free time feel free to change it if the mood inclines!

#117:  Author: ChelseaLocation: Your Imagination PostPosted: Tue Jun 22, 2004 6:39 pm

I've gone and made the changes. Con now buys peroxide rather than dye and ML sees a 'fair-haired' girl. Of course, now all our comments don't make any sense Embarassed

Con and James rushed to the edge and were relieved to see Mary-Lou hadn't fallen all the way down, she was about 1 ft away from the top, she was standing on a very thin ledge and had grasped a clump of grass on the way down which had saved her from falling all the way. Con looked up and down the path in despair, usually when someone fell down a cliff at the Chalet School s mysterious stranger came to the rescue but there was no sign of one and Mary-Lou was fast losing grip on the grass. I'd just like to say I am very confuzzled I went from having 131 messages to 219 AND having a star by my name! Now i know for a fact that i deffinatly had 131 posts on wednesday and I haven't posted that much! But I'm not complaining, I was moaning that I only had 131 on wednesday to Ally!

#124:  Author: SusanLocation: Carlisle PostPosted: Tue Jun 29, 2004 10:48 am

I never thought I would say this but poor Mary Lou! What a shock for her. Will the rescuing mysterious stranger be her father? That would be a plot line worthy of EBD.

#125:  Author: JennieLocation: Cambridgeshire PostPosted: Tue Jun 29, 2004 2:21 pm

Can't they haul her up by her Kenwigses? (Still determined that they'll get a good pulling.)

#126:  Author: AnnLocation: Newcastle upon Tyne, England PostPosted: Tue Jun 29, 2004 5:10 pm

I'm guessing the stranger will be a doctor. Mysterious strangers passing by when an accident happens are always doctors. *wonders if it's slightly suspicious that they're always in the vicinity - are they trying to keep themselves in gainful employment by pushing schoolgirls off cliffs and into lakes?*

#127:  Author: ChelseaLocation: Your Imagination PostPosted: Tue Jun 29, 2004 5:16 pm

What mysterious stranger? Con looked up and down the path in despair, usually when someone fell down a cliff at the Chalet School s mysterious stranger came to the rescue but there was no sign of one and Mary-Lou was fast losing grip on the grass. Looks like it is time for pulling by Kenwigses (which ML has decided to re-grow).

#128:  Author: LynseyLocation: Fife PostPosted: Tue Jun 29, 2004 5:21 pm

Just a little update! James looked up the road and noticed far away the nearest house, it was too far, Mary-Lou wouldn't be able to hang on for that long unless... "Con, How brave are you?" asked James. "What I don't understand!" Cried Con, "Do something!" "I'm trying to but you'll need to help." answered James. He drew Con near him and quickly explained his plan.

As there is usually a stranger in the vicinity at these dramatic moments I assumed there would be one mentioned in the next post.

Thought I should maybe finish this off, it'll probably take four more shortish posts. James had run to the far away house leaving Con to make a rope of some kind, "Use you coat or something, be resourceful," James had said, "You'll think of something, but Mary-Lou needs something more solid than the grass she's holding now." Well that was all very easy to say but Con was so worried about Mary-Lou she couldn't think, then she went to tie her coat belt, it had undone in the run, that was when she suddenly had a brillant idea.

#134:  Author: EllieLocation: Lincolnshire PostPosted: Sat Sep 04, 2004 11:47 pm

Gosh, I've only just found this - and what happens? I read through from the beginning to find that it ends on a literal cliff edge! Hope there's more soon.

#135:  Author: LynseyLocation: Fife PostPosted: Mon Sep 06, 2004 5:59 pm

Con pulled off her coat belt and skirt belt, and tied her coat around her waist so her skirt wouldn't fall, then she did the two ends up and tied it to a bush just 10cms away from the cliff-edge. She lowered the free end and called to Mary-Lou, "Grab this!" But Mary-Lou just shook her head, Con knew that Mary-Lou was frightened but she was still annoyed that Mary-Lou was being such a spineless jelly-fish. Just a little snippet

#136:  Author: JennieLocation: Cambridgeshire PostPosted: Mon Sep 06, 2004 7:53 pm

Seeing this, and feeling absolutely exasperated, Con pulled up her makeshift rope, formed it into a noose using a cunning knot learned in Guides, and neatly dropped down over OOAO's head. She then hauled with all her might and main. Finally Mary-Lou's body was dragged over the edge of the cliff, and she lay there, still, grey, and to all appearances.............

#137:  Author: LynseyLocation: Fife PostPosted: Tue Sep 07, 2004 7:01 am

Jennie, if she did that would that kill OOAOML? The noose around her head? Con had no choice, she had to go closer to the edge and grab Mary-Lou, suddenly James came running down the hill with someone behind him, the Abbess!

#138:  Author: JennieLocation: Cambridgeshire PostPosted: Tue Sep 07, 2004 3:26 pm

Of course it would kill OOAO, Lynsey. you know that I lose no opportunity to knock her off. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

While James carried Mary-Lou off to the San as fast as he could Con and Mrs Annersley were following, at a slower pace, but Mrs Annersley's speech wasn't slow. "HOW DARE YOU RUN OFF LIKE THAT? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO YOUR HAIR?!"Mrs Annersley was yelling, Con had never seen, or heard, her yell before, " YOU HAD NO PROTECTION! THE PROTECTION COULDN'T HAVE KNOW YOU WERE THERE!" As Mrs Annersley stopped for breath Con asked, "What is The Protection?" Mrs Annersley's hand flew to her mouth, "Oh dear, Con run and gather Len and Margot in my office now, I have to tell you all something."

Lynsey - please write some more soon.

#142:  Author: LynseyLocation: Fife PostPosted: Wed Sep 08, 2004 5:01 pm

This will only take about 3 more posts, it all happens pretty fast, I might post more later today but right now here is a very little...Con ran as fast as she could to gather her sisters, as she past the gates of the San she caught a quick glimpse of James and Mary-Lou, before she past, 'What on earth did Mrs Annersley mean, or what in the universe?' thought Con.

#143:  Author: LynseyLocation: Fife PostPosted: Tue Oct 26, 2004 5:26 pm

Con flew up to the common room, luckily she found both Len and Margot there, "Come quick! Mary-Lou... Miss Annersley!....The Protection.....Come!" She cried and ignoring puzzled glances from the rest she ran back out the room to Miss Annersley's office followed by two very puzzled, and slightly worried sisters. "What is going on Con? Can't you finish a sentence? What is The Protection?" asked Len running along side. " That's what I asked!" Was Len's only answer.
