Somewhere on the Sidgwick Site, someone was stealthing. As well as one is able to stealth when followed by a small stream of teddy bears, that is. Immediately upon receipt of a certain text message from a certain CBBer that afternoon, Vikki had known what she must do. It was, as she had announced, before leaping into the TARDIS-car, her destiny.

The History Faculty building, an imposing structure of glass and red-brick, built the wrong way round, and now clashing with the new English building, was Vikki's objective as she dashed from pillar to pillar, then down the steps and towards her goal.

Trying to look like a historian, Vikki slipped into the Faculty building and ambled over to the noticeboard outside the Custodian's Office. Her eyes narrowed as she found what she was looking for, and she stalked over to the stairwell, and began the long climb, while the gang of teddies, rather more sensibly, decided to get the lift. Much to the consternation of the other occupants thereof, who all promptly resolved to take more revision breaks, because hallucinations at this stage in term were not a good sign.

When Vikki finally reached the correct floor she paused for a moment to catch her breath, while Honeycombe sniggered and tried to look concerned. "Onwards!" Vikki bellowed suddenly, charging down the corridor and bursting into the office of the unsuspecting Professor V. Confronted with the unexpected sight of Vikki, plus the teddy army, the learned lady stopped in the middle of her cup of tea and stared. She stared even harder as the teddies, under Vikki's direction, began to remove an 's' from the name on her door. Momentarily, she considered protesting. Deciding against it, she thought that perhaps swiftly returning to Malawi might be in order, and accordingly she vanished.

A couple of weeks passed, and Vikki settled in nicely. Dinner at the High Table at Kings, punting on the Cam, evensong in the Chapel. Oh yes, this was the life. It was the role she was born to fulfil. "Vikki Kirkum, Smut Professor" - it had such a good ring to it. And she had an excuse for dressing up in a gown and running down the corridors singing "dunnuhdunnuhdunnuhdunnuh - Batman!" as unsuspecting students made their way to lectures. She just ignored the messages about Commonwealth History that kept appearing, and dealt with all the signs that had her job title that little bit out. "Smuts Professor, Smut Professor" she hummed to herself under her breath. "S'only a little bit different... now, where did she keep her biscuits I wonder..."

How sad is it that, after puzzling over which S had been removed, I was driven to google the Smuts Professorship? And found it! Laughing

Look, there's a great view from the sixth floor of the Faculty Building, even if it is hotter than a greenhouse... I don't understand what the problem is...
