Sugar was busy writing her assignment for university - or at least, that was what she was supposed to be doing! In reality she was procrastinating in the way she loved best - writing drabbles. Now drabble writing can have very odd consequences, as Sugar had already had cause to know, but she quite happily disregarded all previous experience and went ahead anyway. She posted her latest with a grin and sat back to wait for the reaction. It wasn’t long in coming!

An odd noise from outside the window made her raise her head sharply. She knew that sound, knew the peculiar whooshing noise that meant only one thing - a thing she had confessed to being scared of. The noise stopped, but by then Sugar was already cowering behind the sofa, regardless of the fact that she was imitating a certain marine animal. A banging on her front door was ignored, and then came a warbling electronic noise, and she heard the door crash back against the wall.

“Where will she be?” asked a male voice she really didn’t want to recognise.

“Not sure - I haven’t been here before. Let’s try in here.”

The second voice she did recognise, and she tried to burrow under the sofa, but the gap was too small. The door opened, and two people came into the room. The sofa was pulled back and there was Auntie Pat, and a man in a blue suit, and long coat, a shock of dark hair falling over his forehead. Sugar moaned gently.

“Up you come Sugar,” said Pat firmly. “We have other places to go. Lancaster via "North West England" to be precise.”

*Edited to add: just seen my new tag line - how appropriate can you get?!*
Also to alter a place name.

Before she knew it she was outside her house and inside that blue box, standing so incongruously in front of her house. the Doctor leapt to the central console as Pat shut the doors behind them. Then they were off, though there was no sensation of flying, or moving at all.

“I.. It’s very smooth,” Sugar said, trying to look brave.

“At the moment. I won’t guarantee it will stay like this however. the Tardis has a mind of its own at times.” The Doctor moved around the console touching controls here and there.
“Right! Here we are. And we missed the conservatory too!”

Pat stayed in the Tardis to make Sure sugar didn’t escape. After all, she didn’t want her friend to miss the treat of a life-time! It took a little time for the Doctor to return, and when he did it was clear that he was having problems ‘persuading’ Kate to come with him. However, he finally had the door shut tightly, and breathing rather heavily he got the Tardis on the move again.

“Right! Silent running this time I think. I gather there’s a fan at the next place and it’s not the fan we want!” The Doctor fiddled with the controls and the signature noise of the Tardis in flight died away to a whisper.

“Don’t try and leave,” he warned. “We’re inside the house. Oops! there’s less room than I bargained for here. Never mind, I’m sure we’ll cope.”

He squeezed out of the door, and the others caught a glimpse of Carolyn’s dining room. There was the sound of a brief scuffle, and then Carolyn popped through the door like a cork out of a bottle, closely followed by the Doctor.

“Where to then?” he asked, grinning at the small group of people he’s picked up.

Pat grinned at Sugar. “Well this is all for Sugar’s benefit, and she seems to think that a good direction is ‘Second star to the right”!

After a while the Tardis seemed to hover, and the Doctor checked various dials.

“Not a good place, I’m afraid,” he said. “That’s the Library world.”

A general shudder went round the other people, and Pat shook her head quickly.

“Not there!” she said. “What about heading straight on till morning?”

The Doctor grinned, and away they went again. Presently there were aware that they had landed somewhere, and Kate, being nearest, opened the door a crack.

“Looks OK,” she said.

“Come on, don’t be scared,” grinned the Doctor. “Would I take you anywhere dangerous?”

All he got were stern looks that reminded him very much of one Donna Noble, but he managed to ignore them and flung open the door.

“Welcome to Never Never Land,” he said, and sauntered outside, the others following close behind him. They were on top of a cliff looking out to sea. In the bay below them floated a ship flying the Jolly Roger. The doctor stood with his hands in his pockets looking around him. Then he lifted one hand, and a tiny light settled on his finger.

“Hello Tinkerbell,” he said. “What’s up?”

After what was clearly a two-way conversation, the Doctor turned to the small group gazing around them in shock.

“Peter’s off somewhere on his own business, so why don’t you explore. Captain Hook is very dead, so there’s nothing dangerous here. I’ve just got to do a little errand. Be right back.”

Before they could move he had gone back into the Tardis, and was gone. There was a path leading down to the beach not far away, and they agreed that a paddle would be a nice way of spending the time. They couldn’t leave without the Doctor anyway.

Meanwhile the Tardis had headed back to Earth. There were other people that he should have brought with him, and that needed rectifying. Yorkshire for Cara, Catriona, Patmac, Nell and Dawn, Derbyshire for Helen and Nicola, and Manchester for Liane. A quick side-step northwards for Sue and Rachel, and then south. South for Cryst, Jennie, Rosie, Ray, Nina, Pim, Liz, Vikki, and for Lesley. By the time he’s picked them all up he was beginning to regret his generosity! He could perfectly understand what Pat’s family had said about those that they had met - ‘lovely people but they spoke a foreign language’! Even his famed skills struggled to understand what they were all talking about, but he tried to close his ears to the hubbub as the Tardis shot back from whence it came.

Meanwhile the original group had decided to make their way down to the beach. The going was good, with no rocks or tree roots to trip the unwary. However, due to the yibbling they were all moving extremely slowly, and the Tardis was back before they were halfway down. The two groups reached the beach together, and made so much noise talking that no one noticed the food spread out just a few feet away. It was the smell of the barbeque that finally penetrated their consciousness, and they turned en masse to see what was happening. Under the trees at the edge of the beach was a trestle table groaning with bowls of salad, bread rolls, dips, potato salad, and coleslaw. At one end were plates piled high with sausages, chicken legs, pork cutlets, kebabs, all freshly cooked on the barbeque that stood next to it. Of the chef there was no sign - the whole lot could have arrived by magic for all they knew to the contrary. As is usual when a group of CBBers get together, they made short work of reducing the spread to a few scraps of limp lettuce.

“What about a swim?” someone said - no one ever admitted to asking it, though one person did go rather red at the reaction to this proposal.

“Straight after lunch?” a new voice exclaimed in horror. “Without having your afternoon rest?”

There, walking across the beach, were two women. One was talk, with light golden-brown hair twisted into a neat bun at her neck. The other was shorter, though still slim, and her hair was snowy white. More than one person gasped as they realised who these two had to be, but such was the power in those grey-blue eyes that they all settled down in the shade without anyone trying to object. Even the Doctor admitted to dozing for a while.

When thirty minutes had passed , he stood up and looked down at the group, moist of whom were frankly asleep.

“Right!” he said. “Anyone for flying? I have some fairy dust here, and it is Neverland after all.”

Without waiting for an answer he sprinkled the dust over all of them, even Hilda and Nell. Naturally it was Nell who was first to rise up into the air, and delighted grin preading across her face.

“Come on Hilda,” she called. “This is wonderful. You’d hate Matey to call you’re a spineless jellyfish wouldn’t you?”

Hilda rolled her eyes, but everyone could see the smile in them as she shrugged and pushed off into the air. After that, none of the rest felt that they could duck out, and they all followed them into the air. Some of the braver ones tried some aerobatics, looping the loop and rolling in mid air. No one felt any hint of vertigo, which Pat tho9ught was a miracle. It was fun exploring from a safe height. They found the Red Indian’s camp, though it was deserted, as was the the underground home of the lost boys (Sugar, being the smallest had been sent to check!). In fact, apart from themselves, the whole island was deserted.
