Vikki stretched herself luxuriously on her mattress, enjoying the feel of her feet poking out the end of the bed. With a determined expression on her face, she decided today would be the day she overcame her fear of heights. Trembling with nervousness, she placed one foot on the floor, then the other, and stood up straight. With a strangled cry she dropped to her knees, taking comfort in how close the floor was to her trembling hands.

Vikki knew it was ridiculous, but she had never been able to reconcile herself to growing to the staggering height of five foot nine. She felt much safer when on her knees and only appearing to be four foot eleven (AND A HALF!) Performing her daily gymnastics, Vikki folded her lower legs back on themselves and tucked her feet into the hem of her knickers, placing her shoes on her knees. (Many people had commented on just how dainty Vikki’s feet were in the past, never suspecting this was because they were knees)

Leaving the house for work, Vikki took care not to stand too close to the edge of any pavements - the vast drop from pavement to road was just too scary for her to deal with. Work was a trial as ever - why oh why did they insist that the bar had to be so high up? Would it not be just as reasonable to let Vikki put all the bottles on the floor and pour drinks from there? With a slightly sulky look that spoiled her normally sunny disposition, Vikki decided she would have to quit working in the hospitality industry and take up a new career instead.

Vikki’s new career was a triumph for someone with a fear of heights as bad as hers. It involved lying on the floor and licking shoes clean. Not the nicest of jobs to be sure, but it felt SAFE!

As I've not met Vikki yet, I've now got a really weird picture of her!

Oddly enough she doesn't look like that in photos. I'd never have guessed Wink

Rachel, I nearly collapsed on the keyboard laughing!! Public computer rooms....funny drabbles. It's just not a good mix.
