Post subject:  The Robin

There is a huge difference between pre- and post-Exile Robin. This is where I think the change would have started.

She watched, her cheeks tear-stained, as the others were herded into the old church. It took all her willpower to stop herself from crying out as the group attacked old Herr Goldmann with even more brutality than before in an effort to make up for their disapointment at the girls getting away.

The boys, for most of them were no older than even Joey, turned with anger to the strong old church doors. Robin's tears flowed faster as she watched fom the little windowseat as the doors cracked open under the strain.

Not Joey, not Joey, she thought desperately. This was all her fault. She had gotten them into this, and yet she was the one hiding in safety.

Robin watched fearfully as the boys swarmed the church. She cried out as she saw Vater Johann dragged from the church.

But that was all she saw, for Herr Borkel pulled her away from the window firmly but gently.

"We must leave soon Liebchen" he said softly, "Go to Frau Borkel and she will give you something to eat for it will be a long journey." His brow creased here, but Robin never noticed for there was a loud gun shot.

"Joey" screamed Robin, running to the window. But she was pulled back, weeping into Herr Borkel's kind arms.

"It will hopefully not be the young Fraulein" he said softly into her hair, as she cried and cried.

This was all her fault.

The climb up the mountain was long and hard. It was dark with only a few stars twinkling half-heartedly. With little light it was easy for Robin to dwell on the death of not only her adopted sister, but little Daisy, and funny Evvy, and Miss Wilson, and...

They had reached the Sonnalpe.

"Oh Robin" cried Madge, grabbing her, and pulling her into her arms.

Robin felt her stomach clench up. How could she tell Tante Marguerite, the woman who had mothered her as her own, that it was Robin's own fault that her little sister was dead.

Madge clung to her.

"Oh baby! I have been so worried about you. Even since Daisy turned up with Otto, and I knew you were alright."

"Daisy." said Robin weakly,

"Yes. The others are having to camp out tonight, but we managed to sneak little Daisy home."

Robin heard no more, for with a small moan she fainted.
