Joey sat beside the bed, holding her sister's hand. She was scared, seeing Madge lying so white and still. Madge was going to be all right, wasn't she? She asked Jem.

“I don't know,” he said. “But we need to examine her, and give her some medicine, so you must wait in the hall. I'll call you when you can come back.”

The next ten minutes seemed an eternity, but finally Jem came out, smiling. “She's going to be all right, Joey! She's awake, and wants you – go and give her a kiss, and then come and meet your nephew!”

At that, so would I - but what I was thinking of was that bit in "Head girl" where Jack comes rushing down for Joey because, "Madame has a little son, born this morning - and wants Jo!" and Jo returns "flushed, and wonderful to relate, tearful, saying little beyond that the baby was a darling and Madge was all right - now".

But 100 words is horribly little - it was harder than I expected!
