This is a little story about Lucy Peters, Felicity Maynard and Jean Morrison as they approach the time when they must make their career decisions

Lucy looked across at her two best friends with aprehension. Taking a deep breath she broke her news.

"I'm truly sorry but, well, I've decided not to go in for dance after I leave school."

There was a pause as the others took in what had just been said. Lucy looked down in anguish. They had always vowed to be dancers together through school and after and now she had gone and spoilt it all.

"What do you propose to do then, Lucy?" asked Jean, her eyes wide with shock at the announcement.

Lucy cleared her throat. "I hope to be a nurse. After seeing what good they've done for Mum I felt it's the only path I could choose."

Jean nodded in agreement though there was a frown on her brow.

"That's understandable. But we'll still go to dance college, won;t we Flixy?"

"Well," Felicity replied quietly, "I've got some news too. I'm going to go to university, to study history.......in London."

"London!" gasped Jean. "But that's so far away from Glasgow! We'll be apart! Where will you go to Lucy?"

"I'd like to go train in Bern, that way I can come home at weekends to see Mum and Dad," Lucy answered earnestly.

There was a pause as all three took in each others news.

"We'll still be friends though," Lucy said gently.

"Of course we will!" cried the other two.
