“Nell dear,” the old lady struggled to speak.
“Yes Gran?” the nurse, leant forward to catch each word; her trained eyes alert to the laboured breathing, “shall I wake mum and dad?”
“No, let them sleep, even Len needs her rest. Bring me the photo’s one last time.”
Nell’s eyes misted as she took the carefully preserved albums and, turning the pages together, they looked at the old familiar faces. The old lady still had brightness in her fading eyes, a smile on her face as she remembered, and a peace in her heart as she died.
