As a cure for my frequent writers block, I've been trying to make progress on as many of my old stories as possible. After reading the original version of this, I decided that there were some things I wasn't too keen on, so I'm starting this again. It's still the same storyline, it's just set out differently. Sorry if it's similar to anything thats already been written on this board, but I've not had time to catch up with all the stories yet.

Looking out over the huge expanse of grounds that made up Forrest House, Sybil sighed. This was definitely not how she had imagined her life would be like when she had arrived in Australia three years ago. Back then, she had been barely out of school and she had imagined that Australia would be an adventure. And indeed, for the first year or so, it had been. Her afternoons were spent with her new friends, her evenings filled with parties. Occasionally she would attend the dances that her parents threw for doctors and their wives, but other than that she was free to do as she wanted. It seemed hard to believe that all that was less than two years ago.

It seemed as though it was in another lifetime. She still attended dances now, but she was no longer Sybil Russell, the flirty teenager who was one of Dawn Tudor’s many friends. She was Lady Sybil Forrest, wife of Lord Matthew Edward Philip Jacob Forrest and her miniskirts had been replaced by floor-length ball gowns. If only she could turn back the clock, she would do it all differently. It wasn’t that she didn’t like Matthew- she counted him as one of her best friends. It was the fact that she had been forced to marry him that she hated.

A cry came from the direction of the nursery. Sybil felt like screaming herself. She felt that it wasn’t fair that she should be expected to look after another woman’s children when their own father spent all his time playing snooker with his friends. She ignored the cries. No doubt Eileen, the nurse would see to it. It was her job, after all. Sybil was supposed to take things easy and in her opinion, looking after a toddler, a five year old and a moody teenager were the opposite of that.

She poured herself a glass of wine and put her feet up on the couch. She could remember herself sitting in that exact position two years ago, with a huge hangover. That was the day after everything started…

Sorry it's so short. Hopefully I'll have more up tomorrow.

Well, you could say that that was when it began. If you were going to get technical, however, it had begun the day before, when Dawn had phoned her at five o’ clock and asked if she wanted to go to the party that Josh Shields was holding that night.

“Who’s Josh Shields?” Sybil had asked. “Is he that tall guy who hangs around with Tom?”

“No, that’s Matthew Forrest,” Dawn had sighed, annoyed at having to explain who was who every time she talked to Sybil. “He’s the really hot English guy who’s stinking rich. He’s married though- unfortunately. I think that Josh is the small guy with brown hair who’s friends with Mark. Anyway, who cares who he is? Brian will be there and that’s all I care about.”

Sybil rolled her eyes. Dawn could be ‘a right nutter’ when it came to boys, to quote their friend Liz. “Fine, I’ll come. But you have to promise not to ditch me if Brian actually remembers that you exist. I’m not hanging around like a loner like last time.”

“Yeah, whatever. I’ll come round to at your house in ten minutes.” She hung up.

Looking forward to this - sounds like Sybil is having a massive reaction to the constraints of the CS in true "former convent schoolgirl" style! (sorry to anyone who went to a convent school)

They'd probably agree with you. There's nothing like forbidding something to make it irresistably tempting. devil devil devil devil devil devil

As my Aunt found out...my mum and her sisters were educated at a Loreto in the '60s, and ym Auntie J was always getting into trouble for talking to the boys from the school down the road... Wink Please continue, Amy, this is fabulous!

Two hours later Dawn had forgotten her promise( again) and was laughing and flirting with Brian Alexander and a group of his friends. Sybil could have joined them, but she felt that Dawn wouldn’t appreciate her stealing Brian’s attention. Although Dawn was good looking, with a blonde curly bob and blue eyes, everyone knew that she wasn’t a patch on Sybil with her long red curls. Instead she headed over to where their friend Liz was deep in conversation with who she thought was Matthew Forrest. Liz looked up as she came over. “Oh, hi, Sybil. This is Matthew.”
