Had a quick go - not totally happy with it, but 100 words is tres hard!!

Madge moved to the window, ignoring the cradle. She had said nothing in the three days since the birth, sunk in a deep depression.

Her thoughts were constantly on her sister. Nothing had been heard for weeks – communication between the Channel Islands and central Europe was limited at best.

She heard the voice before she saw the face ‘Well I do hope THIS baby isn’t ginger’ and Joey herself appeared – all eyes, too thin, but safe.

Madge drank in the so-dear face, then turned and reached for the cradle and her very new daughter. ‘Meet your namesake – this is Josette’

I like this Richenda - very, very plausible.

Thankyou. Smile

I often forget just how worrying it must have been for Madge whilst Jo and the others were escaping into Switzerland. This drabble really reminded me of the agony she must have been feeling.

Thanks Richenda

I hadn't forgotten the anxiety Madge had felt, but I had forgotten how soon after she reached Guernsey Josette had been born.

A lovely piece - and agreeing about the difficulty of that 100 word limit - I'm admiring all of you who have posted these drabbles!

I also hadn't thought what Madge must be going through, waiting for news of Jo and the others. This was lovely, Richenda. Thank you.

Well done for doing this one, I'd been trying to produce something on Josette's birth but hadn't seen it as being quite so close to the escape from Tirol.

I hadn't thought about Josette being born before news about Joey arrived, but it makes her name much more poignant.

I always think that poor Madge had an absolutely horrible time of it and it's fairly miraculous that Josette was born safely.

Thanks Richenda

Well I did take a few errrr liberties! Kind of assumed that when Jem told Jo Madge may have been say 5-6 months pregnant, and that Jack & Jo couldn't get news through to the Channel Islands when they made it to Switzerland and Josette could have been premature **hunts desperately for straws to grasp**

I dont think anyone was suggesting that she wasnt though. People are just saying that they didnt think about it that way. None of it detracts from the power of the drabble. It adds to it, so in no way do you need to grasp at straws, you have made people think. And in case I didnt say it before, it was great thankyou 'guest' otherwise Richenda! Smile

I'm glad Madge and Jo were reunited. Maybe Madge decided to make Josette's name like Jo after all Jo had been through.
