I'm not fully sure if this all makes sense, please tell me if it doesn't! BTW : I left out the other two triplets names on purpose. Oh, and I edited it because it said: The other two rolled our eyes.

“Be good, that’s what grandma said! She didn’t specify what type of good!” Viola pointed to her triplet sisters, flouncing back on her bed. Something that had been strictly forbidden by their grandmother, from the time they were five years old, and they had went to live with her secret husband in a rambling old cottage in Surrey. The other two rolled their eyes.
“Grandma hated our performing arts! The only reason we did it is because Grandpa did it behind her back. I don’t think it was encouraged at her school. They liked academics more, I think!” That was rather a long speech from the quietest of the triplets.
“Zanny, how do you know we’re even going to Grandma’s school? Grandpa never mentioned a name; he just said he thinks we’ll like it because he knows of people who had a very high opinion of it, or something stupid like that. We’re thirteen, and we know what we want! Right girls?” And the other two triplets resignedly put their agreement in.
“Right.”

They had hardly ever seen their grandmother, since she had been a matron at a boarding school, from which she seldom returned. The triplets were now being sent to a boarding school themselves. Their grandmother was dead, and had been passing infections onto the girls at her school for a long time. Then, she had died. Suddenly and without warning, and none of them were unduly upset. Not even their grandfather.
The triplets liked being together as a threesome, and never had felt particularly close to anybody in their lives. Except perhaps their grandfather. Other people usually ruined new-found friendships by going up to the wrong triplet thinking they were the right one. The three looked exactly the same as each other. Their grandfather, little did they know, only told them apart through luck, or, if necessary, not mentioning names at all. At the present moment, however, Mr Baxter was trying to put the triplets’ things into the right order. He miserably decided he needed glasses, after packing almost half of V. Baxter’s clothes into a case marked X. Baxter. Then, he heard a scream from the lounge, where the triplets had been sitting for the last quarter of an hour. He dropped all of the stockings he was holding, and hurried as fast as he could after his hip replacement to the lounge. He gasped at what he saw…

I always welcome a new drabble from you Cecilia! You have your own particular brand of crazyness Wink and this looks fun. Wonder how these three and the Maynards will get along?

Well the thing is, I really can't make out where to set this. Because, it's in Switzerland, and I was originally going to make it so the other triplets had left, so the grandmother could be who I wanted it to be. But I really wanted triplet rivalry, so I've just gona and done what I liked! It is very confusing I reckon... Razz

Viola had knocked Xanthe to the floor, and was proceeding to claw at her as viciously as possible, whilst the third triplet looked on in horror, with a gun pointing towards Xanthe. A very fake looking gun.
“What are you doing, girls?” he asked, feeling glad that he wouldn’t have to have another heart attack and get the girls to phone the hospital.
“Oh, grandpa!” sighed Viola, getting up from the floor, where a considerable amount of blonde-brown hair was lying, freshly pulled from Xanthe’s head. “That was one of the most exciting parts of the play!” Mr Baxter sighed. These dramatic plays had been giving him far too many frights recently.
“Look, girls!” he said, sitting down in the old rocking chair. The triplets all saw the serious look in his eyes, and listened carefully. “Now, I really should have told you this before, but, the fact is, you’re going off to school tomorrow. I’ve been packing your bags, but I would like you three to help me with the rest. And, another thing, you three must drop those silly names you’ve been using for each other for so long. I know I let you go along with it, but, at this school, you three will be Georgia, Connie and Mary.” The triplets were stunned. They’d used their ‘actress names’ for as long as they could remember. They felt like they were their real names, not those stuffy things their parents had chosen. The triplets went up the stairs, stunned, and silently began to pull dresses they had never noticed before out of the wardrobe.

The triplets arrived at the new school in a very bad mood. Connie and Mary had become reconciled to their new names, and their grandfather. Viola, however, was in an utter rage with their remaining grandparent, and was refusing to speak to him. She also refused to answer anybody who didn’t call her Viola. The triplets were happy to oblige, but their grandfather was standing firm for once. However, the little house in Surrey had always had a very relaxed atmosphere, and not even the thunderous attitude Viola had taken up could do anything to edit it.
“She didn’t even say goodbye to Grandpa!” whispered Connie to Mary.
“I know, Con!” Mary replied, but before she could finish, Viola cut in.
“Are you talking about Xanthe?” Viola said icily.
“Yes!” squeaked Mary. But that comment had changed everything. Their grandfather with his laid-back attitude had left them in Paris, and they were now travelling under the escort of a mistress who seemed strangely upset. Connie, the most caring of the triplets, ventured to ask,
“Are you, erm, alright, miss?” The said mistress turned round to reveal Kathie Ferrars crying.
“Oh, dear, I’m fine. It’s just, well, the matron at our school died in the holidays, and we were all very close to her. It’s rather upsetting, but don’t worry! We’ll soon be at the school, anyway!” And the mistress turned round to leave Connie and the others wondering what to do…

The journey lasted for a long time. When the triplets got to the school, they didn’t know what time it was, or even what day it was. They were just relieved they could finally stop travelling with that tiresome, crying mistress and get to see what their new school was like. As they entered the school, they got a lot of looks, and many people stared at them. Because they were triplets, they were infant prodigies, and so were in form Inter V, along with another set of triplets who hadn’t been expecting these others to rival them. And identical too! The triplets came face to face with each other, and scrutinised each other for a long time, until Len finally broke the ice.
“I’m Len Maynard. We’re triplets too. They’re Con and Margot.” The other triplets looked at each other. Then Viola spoke.
“I’m Viola. That’s Xanthe…” Viola trailed off. Their stage names had been chosen when the triplets were only five years old. They had each chosen something they thought sounded most beautiful.
“Xanthe?” said Margot. “That’s a flower, isn’t it?” When Connie had chosen that name she had had no idea, so she merely nodded. “What’s she called, then?” Margot indicated Mary, who had so far kept to the back of the conversation. Viola hesitated. Viola and Xanthe were pretty much believable names, though rather exotic. But Mary had really gone beyond any normal names that had occurred to the three five year olds. Mary took a deep breath, and managed to squeak,
“Zanzibar!”

Lovely choice of names Laughing

Looking forward to some triplet competition!

Also seeing how many people they can confuse by switching identities!

Con Maynard fainted in shock. There were shrieks from the more nervous members of the school, and audible gasps from Margot and Len, amongst others.
“Not – really?” said Margot slowly. Mary was about to agree that she wasn't really, when Viola cut in.
“Yes, of course she is! It’s no more unusual than Viola or Xanthe where we live!” And she stalked off, leaving the other two to follow her.
“And it’s not as if I was lying either!” said Viola, when they had found a place where none of those ‘awful triplets that seem to be everywhere’ (as Xanthe put it) were lurking around.
“How’d you work that one out, Vi?” Zanzibar asked.
“Well, easy! There’s one Viola, one Xanthe and one Zanzibar!” The other two groaned, and threw one of the cushions, that seemed to be abundant in the room they were in, with great force at Viola. Just as the new Matron walked into the room.

“What are you doing, girls?” she shrieked, deciding to practise the tips she had learnt in ‘Matroning for Dummies’ on these girls. “And where are you supposed to be? Now, tell me!” Viola, Xanthe and Zanzibar stood in a defiant line.
“We have no idea. I assume you are a matron, I can see that by your uniform. We are new girls at this school, and have no idea whatsoever where to go or what to do, and none of the older pupils seem to be at all anxious to help us!” Now, if it had been the much-missed Matron Lloyd who had been standing there listening to this outburst, the triplets would have been first subjected to a lecture on impudence, and then directed where to go. But not this new matron.
“Girls! To your dormitory, now! You will stay there for the evening!” The triplets didn’t need to be asked twice. They practically ran out of the room.
“What was that you were saying to the matron, Xanthe? It was amazing!” Xanthe blushed a deep red.
“I don’t know, it just came out! I sounded like Grandma, didn’t I?”
“I really can’t remember, but whatever it was,” said Mary as they ascended the front stairs. “It was marvellous!” After a long search for their dormitory, the triplets were inspecting their cubicles. But Xanthe was preoccupied with something else. She knew she hadn’t just sounded like Grandma. She had been Grandma! Grandma had been her!
“There’s something about this school!” she muttered to herself, later that night when the other occupants of the dormitory had come upstairs for the night. “And I’m going to find out what it is!”

The next morning, two sets of triplets got ready for the day at school. In the same dormitory, much to the Maynard Triplets’ dismay.
“We’re with them!” Len muttered to Con as she tossed up the curtains that divided the two cubicles. Con nodded sympathetically.
“They hate us because we’re identical and they aren’t!” Viola whispered to Xanthe, as they watched Len tossing up the curtains, and attempted to do the same. Xanthe nodded sympathetically.
“They’ll soon see we’re better than them!” Xanthe and Con whispered to their respective sisters at the same time. Margot and Zanzibar sighed, then said to each other,
“It’s going to take a lot of work to get them all to get along!” Meanwhile, Xanthe and Viola silently swapped clothes piles, so that they really could be each other. There was no other proof; they even had the same handwriting. Only Margot saw what they were doing, and she nearly laughed out loud. ‘It would be great to be identical with Len and Con, I could do that all the time!’ she thought to herself. ‘But then again, they’d probably go all goody on me!’ Then the breakfast bell rang, and she grabbed Zanzibar’s hand to lead her downstairs.

Only Xanthe didn’t turn up at breakfast. Or Xanthe pretending to be Viola. The real Viola had followed Margot and Zanzibar, and Len and Con knew the way down. But Xanthe was distracted. She was sure she had seen her grandmother humping the mattress. And sure enough, the mattress part was definitely real. But how could it have been her Grandma? She was dead, had been dead for about a week. Xanthe had even been taught to hump her mattress when she was only five by the Grandma in question, so that was no reason for her grandma to do it. So maybe she had done it herself without realising. Then a lady walked into the room. Xanthe jumped up. It was the mistress from the journey.
“Oh – Miss, erm, Ferry!” she stammered, trying to think of an excuse as to why she was in the room at that time. But Miss Ferrars had seen Xanthe’s grandma as well that morning. She had shut and then opened the window in her room, and then waved, and left. It wasn’t as if Matron usually did that. “I know I’m not meant to be here! I- I saw my Grandma!” Miss Ferrars nodded.
“I saw her too. She used to be the Matron here. We have to find her, and find out why she’s walking about the school!” Xanthe nodded, dumbstruck, and allowed herself to be lead down the corridor by this new, kind mistress, a totally different person from the lady crying on the train.

Only Zanzibar, Viola and Margot (with help from the other two) noticed that Xanthe was missing from the breakfast room.
“Where has she gone?” hissed Viola urgently. “Why hasn’t she come down yet?” Zanzibar sighed. Viola had a tendency to dramatise everything, and make mountains out of molehills.
“Look, she’s probably just got a little lost. It’s a big school, you know!” Viola went pale.
“Lost?” she said. “But what if they never find her? She’ll starve, and die, and…”
“Oh, shut up!” Margot Maynard cut in. “We’ll skip prayers, and I’ll help you find her after breakfast, okay?” Viola was silent. Then she nodded. Zanzibar sighed with relief at the agreement, and returned to her breakfast with vim. Then Viola groaning distracted her once more.
“What is it?” she sighed. Viola gasped theatrically.
“I cannot eat another bite, until I know the life of my dear sister is safe!” Zanzibar grabbed her plate, and shoved it away.
“There!” she said. “Now, you don’t have to!” And was finally left to eat her breakfast in peace.

“We’ve been searching for her for five minutes, and nothing!” moaned Viola. Zanzibar nudged her, and Margot said,
“Well, is there anything she would have wanted to look at, or anywhere she would have wanted to go? In the school, I mean!” Viola and Zanzibar thought for a moment.
“She likes art,” said Viola thoughtfully. “But, would she even know where the art room was? And, to be honest, why would she go there anyway? It’s not like she’s going to get out the paints and start drawing a picture, is it?” Margot nodded.
“I know that. But if it was sports, or something, she might have tried to get into the gym.” Zanzibar halted that idea on the spot.
“No, definitely not that! She would have mentioned it to us, and got us to go with her! It’s me who’s the sportiest one, anyway!” Viola suddenly stamped her foot and fell to the floor.
“I don’t care where she is, she’s lost forever and we’ll never find her!” Margot was silent for a moment, then burst into laughter. She had never seen one of Viola’s tantrums before, and was inclined to find it very funny indeed. Zanzibar just wished Viola wouldn’t make such a big fuss all the time.
“Coming, Vi?” she asked with a sigh. Viola turned over with a grunt.
“Help me up, Zan!” she grumbled, and contrived to get up. The three girls, after searching until breakfast time, decided it was a lost cause, and Margot eventually lead them to their form room, where Xanthe was having a very intense conversation with the form mistress who Zanzibar and Viola recognised from off the ship.
“It’s Miss Ferrars,” said Margot, supposedly for Viola and Zanzibar’s benefit.
“It’s Xanthe!” exclaimed Viola, rushing over. “Where have you been?”

Sorry if I've been posting too much, I just can't help it!

Miss Ferrars stared suspiciously at the other two triplets and Margot.
“Where have you three been? Margot?” Margot went red.
“Sorry we’re a little late, Miss Ferrars. They wanted to find Xanthe, because they thought she must have got lost in the school, so I offered to take them around a little bit before the lesson to see if we could see her!” Miss Ferrars was just trying to be a good mistress; she really had more important things on her mind than why three troublesome girls were late for her lesson.
“Very well. Thank you for explaining, Margot. Now go and take a seat, you three.” Margot quickly dived into a seat next to Con, and the remaining Baxter triplets took the seats next to her, with one remaining for Xanthe. Miss Ferrars took the register, and the triplets found to their surprise that they were read out as Viola, Xanthe and Zanzibar Baxter. Then the giving out of exercise books and stationary began. The Baxter triplets, in trying to get themselves organised, didn’t notice the Maynards at all in that time. Unfortunately…

#22:  Author: CeciliaLocation: Brum PostPosted: Wed Mar 16, 2005 8:34 pm

Inter V had spent a lot of the last period staring at the new triplets, seeing if they could find any differences. They had the same handwriting, and even seemed to move almost at the same time.
“They’re demons!” whispered Francie Wilford to a random new girl by the name of Patricia Ellis. “It’s totally scary!” Len and Con overheard this, and leant forward to tell the two girls that they really were demons, so they had heard. Francie then set out to inform the whole form of this by the form of a note. This caused even more stares, which didn’t disconcert the Baxter triplets at all. They were always stared at whenever they went outside their cottage in Surrey. And identical triplets were even rarer than those non-identical Maynards, thought Viola. Well, Margot was okay; she did help us find Xanthe. But that Len and Con, I really don’t like them at all! But Len and Con had revenge coming up, and the new triplets weren’t going to like it…

“Ssshhh!” warned Len, late in the night. “You have to be quiet!” Con silently nodded, and crept into the cubicle. She quietly opened up the bureau, and set to work to mess up the neat order of the drawers. Meanwhile, in the cubicle next door, Len was doing the same thing. She buried the slippers at the bottom of the petticoat drawer, and refolded the petticoats so they would crease awkwardly. She went to the big wardrobe in the dormitory, to find Con snipping three buttons off one of the school dresses. Len proceeded to do the same to another one. Then they both went back into the cubicles, and tied terrible knots into shoe-laces, threw hairbrushes and tooth-brushes onto the floor, and then quietly crept back to their own cubicles, where they slept the sleep of the wicked…

The next morning was utter chaos in what had become known as ‘The Triplet Dorm’. Xanthe and Viola Baxter found almost everything had been messed up, ripped or lost. Only Zanzibar had escaped this blatant sabotage.
“Why not you, Zanny?” Xanthe moaned. Zanzibar wasn’t sure, but she suspected the fact she had become good friends with Margot Maynard had something to do with it. This whole thing left two out of six triplets feeling very disgruntled indeed, and they got into a lot of trouble during the day.
“Margot?” she whispered as soon as she had the chance. “Did you and your sisters do that to Vi and Xan?” Margot shook her head. Then she gasped.
“I just saw Matey run along the corridor! There were these black dogs with her! It was –“ Margot grabbed Zanzibar by the hand and rushed out into the suddenly dark corridor, and stopped dead in her tracks.
“Prepare to fight, Maynard!” hissed the evil voice of an old woman, who stood wielding a light sabre which looked as though it could do a lot of damage…

Sorry about this it's just a quick question i didn't know where to put so I've posted here. If the triplets were thirteen, which of their siblings would be born? I haven't got any books around to check in, so please help! Thanks!

Margot had been trembling in fear, until someone unexpectedly jumped in for her.
“Engarde!” shouted Cecil Maynard, who wasn’t supposed to be born yet (or was she?). “Prepare to fight!” Then Cecil sneezed, a very sweet, Disney-like sneeze, and some odd purple dust came out. Matron Lloyd sneakily dealt her first jab to the little girl.
“Hey!” said Cecil. “I’m not ready yet, I need Henry!” Suddenly, out of nowhere, a big purple horse came galloping up to Cecil, complete with purple light sabre in it’s mouth.
“Ready!” she shouted, and a horrific battle ensued. Matey had acquired some flying abilities, and Cecil really did seem to be a wonder child, considering some of the things she did. After turning into a frying pan and bashing Matey on the head, she seemed to have had enough.
“I know your plan…” she said threateningly. “I’ll get you!” And she galloped off into the corridor.
