Joey still had that trick of waking fully at first light even though it was nearly seventy years since her school days. She remembered that today was a special day. Con’s eldest grandchild Daphne would be getting married to her second cousin Richard Winterton. There should be a lot to do. The extended family numbered almost two hundred these days. But Daphne and Richard were on a tropical island – only Daphne’s bridesmaid and Richard’s best man (both university friends) were with them. Daphne said she didn’t want to be part of a circus show! She had promised that they would send pictures to Joey’s mobile phone. It was a good thing that Michael’s younger granddaughter had an exeat from school, otherwise Joey would have seen none of it.
