This one's for Katarzyna, who stated quite categorically that I couldn't stick at one drabblet! Shocked

She threatened to poke me until I obliged, so, Kate, here it is......
Coming Home

She had resolved, when she first met him, that home was neither what, nor where, but a person. It had seemed highly unlikely, however, that he would ever come home to her. Distance, career and then the impending war had kept him away.

Were these just excuses?

But, suddenly, almost too suddenly, here he was. Was it too late for them?

He lifted her veil and kissed her gently.

“Thank you for being so patient and so loving,” he whispered tenderly against her damp cheek.

Con smiled mistily up at her Jock. They had come home to each other at long last.

That is lovely Mary. I think the feeling of coming home to each other sums up beautifuly how they must have felt.
