(I hope this is the right place to put this)
Very simple, list your top 10 CS books. No. 1 being your all time favourite. At the end of June I'll tally all the votes & post the list of the top 10 (& probably all the rest). You can post a list with less than 10, but NO MORE THAN 10 please.

Scoring system No. 1 =10 points, No. 2 = 9 points No. 3=8 points etc.

You can go back & edit your list as you wish though June, but please only 1 list each

ETA Sorry, no fill ins this time please.

A sudden thought; how do we deal with the books that were cut in half by Armada (insert generic rantstabbity here)? If, eg, someone's all-time favourite is Fete, does that count as points for Genius, or does it get its own? If it gets its own, does it get half of the points given to hardback Genius? *ponders*

I'm doing it on the basis that if someone votes one of the Armada split books, then I list it them as seperate books.

ETA - so far I don't think anyone's voted for Genius, so fingrs crossed it'll alll be straightforward...

Top Swiss book & only one in top 10 at the moment is New Mistress at 63

(A couple of people have put 11 books, so I just took the first ten)

I quite liked Excitments and Future. Wouldn't necessarily have put them in the top ten but I wouldn't have had them at the bottom either. Not that I actually got round to voting so can't really protest too much!

It is quite interesting isn't it, how they pan out? Getting 10 results from everyone gives a much broader picture than if one just voted for one book. The two that really surprised me were New Mistress coming third & Theordora getting so many votes. I expected New Mistress to be in the top Ten but thought a Tirol book (other than Exile) would be in the top three. And Theodora just picked up lots of lower placed votes.

Anyway, it's interesting to see the results. Thanks all who voted.

It would be great to do it on a larger scale, with a larger sample group, to get a better picture although I'm pretty sure the top 2 would stay the same! (And that's not a dig at those who didn't vote)

I don't want to make extra work for you, Caty, but does it work out very differently if you give eg. 10 marks for a first place and 1 for 10th place etc.?

I think that's what I did. I gave everyone's first choice 10 marks, 2nd choice 9 marks, 3rd choice 8, all the way down to 10th choice = 1 point. Sorry if I've missed what you mean though.

Now if I was to list books in order of which came top most often, I might get different results. Hmm, will have to check that

Quick result. If only take the 1st place results are:
1. Exile (17 votes)
2. Highland Twins (4 Votes)
3. School at/Jo of/ Rescue (2 votes)
6. Princess/Camp/Lintons/Gay/Oberland/New Mistress/Mary-Lou/Theodora/Jane ( 1 vote each)

So very different then, except for the top 2! I think the other results gave a better reflection of favourites.
