12:43 pm — Been
thinking about this one for a while! What are your 5 least favourite Chalet
titles (in no particular order)? The winning titles will be decided by the
number of times they are voted for.
My votes go to: Peggy Rosalie Mystery Princess
Wins the Trick

Tough one... I don't really dislike any of them, but these are the ones I get
the least enjoyment out of:

1:29 pm — Hmm.
Okay, at the moment my list looks like this. Barbara - last time I read this I really found
I had to plough through it. Summer
Term Althea Mystery Coming of Age - Like Joey Goes, should have been better and I can't
forgive it. I love all the reminiscing and this promised to do it but didn't,
not for me anyway.
Joey Goes
made it in there at first because it could have been so much better and stuggled
to carry itself as a whole book. Edited to change my mind.

2:41 pm — I
haven't read a lot of the books but will try to think:
Coming of Age - like everyone else seems to
have been, I was disappointed by this. Hugely.
Prefects - liked it okay as a kid, but found
it quite boring when I recently re-read a transcript. Feel like was struggling
for incidents to justify the Maynards' last term having two books. The 'Chapter
of Accidents' is one of my least favourite ever sections of a CS book - nothing
happens!
Mary-Lou - probably
because I was always wild to read it, this was another one that, when I actually
read it, disappointed.
Bride
Leads - see above.
Shocks
- I thought this was about the CS preparing to move to the Oberland (for some
bizarre reason) so was disappointed when it wasn't. None of the shocks were very
interesting IMO.
It's not that I disliked these books, just thatI was
bored/disappointed with them.

- have just finished it, having purchased it off Ebay and hate the
constant reference to "brats" when referring to the Maynard children Feud

12:34 pm — I forgot
that I hadn't put in my twopennyworth here!
In no particular order:
Island Feud Lavender Wrong Peggy
I haven't
re-read some of these for ages, so were I in a position to do a re-read of the
whole bunch I wonder if they'd change. I never liked the books set outside
Austria/Switzerland as Jo was my favourite character when I was first reading
the books, followed by the triplets. The books between the Alpine locations did
not appeal to me much at all, missing those heroines as they did!

Coming of Age, Reunion and Prefects possibly because I was
just hoping for too much.

10:26 pm — Mary Lou (because of the title character and
Margot apparently being blamed - severely - by association for something
Emerence did)
Coming of Age
(Plenty of promise here, falls flat on its face, Sybil is completely
overshadowed by OOAO)
Barbara (I
don't quite know the point of this book)
Prefects (I always felt Len was too soft as a
Head girl. Her illustrious mother was very authoritarian and OOAO could
certainly dish out some punishments to evildoers)
Jane (Jack Lambert's bullying is too realistic
for me and even when Len catches her, she is not dealt with sufficiently. Then
her sudden transformation into a caring person when she hears of the accident
which has befallen jane's parents, doesn't seem realistic to me.)

11:01 pm — Oooh
yes, Jane is pants! What really really really grated on me was EBD's very
cliched perceptions of theatre life - it was so unrealistic and to be honest
quite silly!
Ummm, Althea, definitely. Colourless, boring, really
couldn't give too hoots about her.
Rosalie. Ditto. Did anyone else feel
that Mrs Gay was a touch...I don't know..Lady Bountiful?
#21: Least Favourit Chalet school
book Author: Fiona Mc, Location: Bendigo, AustraliaPosted: Wed Nov 08, 2006
11:46 am — Least
favourite has to be The New Chalet school. That book nearly permanantly put me
off reading the series altogether. It was the first one I read and I couldn't
get into it at all. All the others have varied depending on how old I was when I
read it.

11:00 pm — My 5
are:
Challenge Prefects Althea Trials (I've only read the PB
of this and I have heard that the HB is supposed to be better, but the fact that
OOAOML feels that she has to make Naomi see the light or else really grates me
as everyone is entitiled to their own opinion and should be accepted for it.)
Does it Again (Just could not get into this book.)

11:31 am — Hmmmm.... difficult, cos I haven't read all of them, and I've
read very few in hardback, and it seems unfair to judge the abridged ones
against the real ones.
Might edit later when hae thought more...
