Everyone is invited to contribute - please give your life echoes in contribution a little heading though so we know what your eternity. article is about. You can contribute anything you like - what do you think of the stories in the drabbles? Favourite thing about the CS/CBB? etc. It's up to you - I'm easy I'll go first - with my editorial: *********** Welcome to the first online version of The Chaletian! In this edition, you will find reports of how our own Chalet School has progressed this year on the CBB. Everyone who visits the CBB is entitled to post an entry for our own magazine. We've had a number of events going on this year - we've had two parties for KB and Aletea who have both posted over 1,000 times. Congratulations to them both! Also, we now have over 100 members, which is excellent! Of course, the Chaletian site has had a rather attractive makeover recently. Many thanks to Liss (our headmistress in our virtual Chalet world) who runs the site and makes all this possible! Enjoy your virtual magazine - once you start posting in it, that is... We've learned all sorts of little bits and pieces about our fellow members, and hope to soon have a system up that will alert us to forthcoming birthdays so that we can arrange for cakes and parties. The Sales are undergoing brisk trade, and it's wonderful to see people's collections of CS books expand thanks to the generosity of others on the list. With help from Girls Gone By Publishers we can hope to increase this even further in coming months and years. Discussions regarding the books, characters, questions and anything elses are continuing at their usual pace, and the speed with which questions are being answered and details provided is very pleasing to see. The various entries in the creative section of the site have shown a great variety of ideas and concepts among the participants, although the tendency to see major characters suffering, and even dying, is perhaps somewhat concerning. It is hoped that a few happy endings will stem this gloomy tide. It is also wonderful to see the amount of feedback that is being received by the authors who have posted their work on Liss's site for the enjoyment of all. This is particularly encouraging for those who may be somewhat nervous about the reception their work might receive, and I would encourage everyone to put forward their own pieces without fear of any flaming or other negative remarks. And finally, it is very gratifying to find such a wide variety of topics being discussed under the 'Anything Else' thread. It's good to know that, although we have been drawn together by a common interest in Elinor Brent-Dyer's Chalet School Series (with its add-ons by other authors), we can also discuss such a very great number of other topics. All in all, an excellent term and I hope it continues as well after the holidays. All girls who have dogs at school with them have managed long walks with their pets during the warm dry weather this term. Edith brought a tankful of snails with her and they have been an asset to the school. They have helped to contain a large crop of dandelions that invaded the edge of the playing fields, and kept some of the juniors out of mischief while they picked the dandelion leaves. The snails also proved a wonderful teaching aid in various lessons. One problem area this term were the cats. Two of them got a little too close to each other and some girls had to go to Matron for iodine on the scratches they received whilst seperating them. All girls are reminded they are responsible for making sure their animals are secure in the sheds when leaving them during lessons. Ianswythe was reported to Miss Annersley last week for allowing her dog to escape and join an art lesson where it became covered in paint. Thankfully it has now recovered. Remember if you would like to bring a pet to school next term the permission forms are available from Miss Dene's office. Hope you and your pets have a safe journey home for the holidays, have a wonderful summer. I am delighted by the comittment that my fellow members have shown towards their games. Many members have shown a talent for devising fiendishly difficult quizzes and puzzles to keep us all entertained. And I was delighted and impressed by the high standard of knowledge shown by all members. I am also pleased to say that so many girls have made the lacrosse team, that we now have enough to play competative matches (I hope!!) I was also pleased to see cricket and Tennis being discussed so thoroughly. And I can now say that many more of our girls now understand the rules of cricket than ever before, a true achievement. I hope that this standard can be maintained for the coming future, here's to a good term next term as well. This has been a most enjoyable term for me but i am lookingforward to the summer holidays and getting off the ladder in the staitionary cupboard. We have ben lucky thisterm becuase we have only had two dramatic spillages, one was over a very frail junior who got drenched in red ink. Thankfully our kind matron acted promtedly, does and bathed the child and she escaped pneumonia. The other spillage was a bottle of black ink, we are lucky becuase it was a big sturdy senior who sufferred -me! I look forward to next term, and continue to hope i may move to full pefect one day, in the future. My time so far, at the CBB has been greatly enjoyable. I would like to wish all the staff and pupils at the CBB a happy and peaceful break and a safe return in september. We hope that next term there will be more interest in the meetings. Amy (P.S. Sorry if it's a bit short, but I couldn't think of anything else to add.) However, they are proving exceedingly popular, so don'r worry about the above little problem. Some girls seem to have another source of money which will have to looked into in the future. The staff are beginning to get concerned about the borrowing culture that seems to be around.
