Can anyone translate "gamps" in
Quote:
‘Get out the gamps! Jill’s looking for trouble!’ ?
It's from Gerry Goes to School.

According to google it's a slang term for umbrellas - don't know if that fits the scenario. Laughing

Saying Jill's temper will be stormy perhaps..? She's like a young thunderstorm when properly aroused? (that sounds like an EBD-ish thing to say!). It's a bit of a tenuous link , I admit!

Thanks! Sarah might have it. Jill's eyes do "flash stormily" during the midnight attack. I wonder if it was a popular catch-phrase at some point....
