I am thinking of writing a story about Darrel Rivers taking up a temporary post after St. Andrews in St. Mildred's. I'm thinking of setting it during the period a year or two after Peggy Bettany finishes her second year there. I could do with some help with the pupils who go on to St. Mildred's around that time. Did Mary-Lou go, for instance? |

Thats getting into complicated chronology! Mary-Lou did go to St Mildreds, and her first term there was during 'Ruey'. Most of her gang would have been there around the same time - at least those who eneded up inthe same school year as her. As far as I can work out that would have been three years after Peggy left St Mildreds. There are so many books covering the Swiss period, often with little to distingiush them, that I get mixed up over the actual year divivsions, so I don't want to venture further advice in case I'm wrong. Don't worry about sticking too rigidly to facts though - EBD never did! |

Peggy was there during the year starting with Oberland and the year starting with Barbara. The year after she left would've been the year starting with Mary-Lou, the year after that would be the year starting with New Mistress, the year after that would have been the year starting with Richenda, and Mary-Lou and the Gang would have been there the following year, during the year starting with Ruey ... er, hope that makes sense! So, as Miriam said, the Gang would have started there three years after Peggy left - i.e. their first term was three and a bit years after her last term, so the fourth academic year following Peggy leaving. The people who went two years after Peggy left would have been Katharine Gordon, Hilary Wilson, Blossom Willoughby, Polly Winterton, Betsy Lucy and co, I think. |

KAtherine Gordon and Blossom were among the group that returned to the CS during 'Coming of Age' when the St Mildreds building were being made available for guests. I think Elinor Pennel and her group would have been the ones at St Mildreds the next year. I'm not sure if Polly Winterton ever went to St Mildreds by the way. Lala never did - she was ordered to university directly from school, so the same may have applied to Polly. |

Thanks for the encouragement and for the info. I think this will take a little time to work out. I've always wondered what Joey would make of Darrell and what Darrell would think of Mary-Lou. At the moment it's just a germ of an idea but I hope to begin this side of Christmas. |
