#1: I Wish I Were A Chalet Girl Author: CarolaLocation: Birmingham right now, usually Nepal PostPosted: Thu Jul 21, 2005 7:17 pm

Just goes to show how easily distracted you can be when you're S'POSED to be doing language study.....

I wish I were a Chalet Girl...I’d run away to school
I’d plait my hair, or have it bobbed
I’d seldom play the fool
I wish I were a Chalet Girl...3 languages I’d speak
I’d catch a chill three times a day
And join the coolest clique.

I’d love to be a Chalet Girl, although it can be tough
My mum would have to catch TB
And that would be quite rough.
I’d love to be a Chalet Girl and throw away my specs
I’d walk whilst bending at the knee
And never think of sex.

But if I were a Chalet Girl, I’d study maths and history
I’d have a million children
(Although how would be a mystery)
And if I were a Chalet Girl, I’d learn to cook and sew
Then have a dozen servants
To keep my workload low.

But I can’t be a Chalet Girl...bad hair days are the norm
I only speak Nepali which is
Useless in the dorm
I cannot be a Chalet Girl, I’m sturdy as an ox
I rarely catch a cold or ’flu,
I’ve not had chicken pox.

I’ll never be a Chalet Girl, and wed the nearest doc
I don’t have any servants
I never boil the clock.
I’ll never be a Chalet Girl and have fun at the fete
And when all’s said and done
Let’s not forget....I’m 38!

Oh, OK Smile I thought the picture was Jo, burning Malvina. I seem to remember it from the front cover of one of the paperbacks I had as a kid.

Is it bad that I'm hearing this to a tune across between the "Brownie Smile Song" and "Swinging Auntie"?
