I'm just reading the Challenge transcript and I came upon this section in which Len is reading of the rambles list.
Is it just me, or are there two sets of pres and escorts going with IIIb?

Quote:
“Now, IIIb, you go with Miss Burnett and Miss Moore, and your prefects are Primrose Trevoase and Jeanne Daudet. Your ramble is up to the toboggan path and down by the stream through the pinewoods.”
“And our escorts?” demanded a small voice.
“Miss Carey and Miss Lawrence, and Maria Zinkel and Con for prefects.”
Exit IIIb, highly delighted!

Well, you know what those imps in IIIb can be like!

Sorry, Chelsea, I have no idea, never having read Challenge - I just felt sorry for your question, all alone with no replies...sad, to be all alone in the world...

Just checked the book in case it was a typo (not that I'm casting aspersions on the typist) but its the same in there (although over 2 pages which is my excuse for not noticing - that and it's my least favourite book which hardly ever gets read)

Phew, I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed it, it always made me giggle. Sometimes you just have to really love EBD!

I've never noticed that either, but (without the book here to check) was IIIb divided into Upper and Lower, and could the prefixes have been missed out? (just trying to find excuses for EBD)

What's worrying is that the book, presumably, was edited - why didn't anyone notice???

But then, why didn't anyone notice lots of things? I daresay we might have rather fewer EBDisms if she had been better served by her editors.

Just spotted another one. In Lavender, chapter 3,

Quote:
Lavender only just scraped into Lower Third, of which Mollie McNab was an ornament

then 26 lines down

Quote:
as Mollie is to be in the Lower Fourth, so can’t be expected to have much to do with her.

Confused
